Loaner Laptop Terms for Students in PHIT Programs
Bowie State University PHIT students may request a loaner laptop from the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) for learning and instruction purposes only. Students must meet the eligibility requirements to receive a laptop. Laptops may be borrowed for up to one academic term and renewed for another academic term until either the student graduates from the program or leaves the program; the student will be charged for the laptop if the device is not returned or renewed by the due date. Only one device can be checked out.
Eligibility: You must be a current and active (registered for courses) student at Bowie State University and enrolled in the PHIT programs: a BS in PHIT or PBC in PHIS.
Availability and Approval: Laptops can be requested through your department chair, the Dean, or their designees, and the IT Service Desk provides it as it is available.
Terms and Conditions for Laptop Loan Service
- You must agree to use the laptop in accordance with the DoIT Acceptable Use Policy.
- All equipment must be returned on the due date specified on your laptop loan agreement form and can be renewed, provided you are an active student in the program, or you will be charged for the device.
- The device must be returned by the due date or by the end of the semester in which a student is graduating or immediately when leaving the program.
- You cannot transfer the equipment to another person for use during your loan period.
- You must personally return all equipment to the DoIT Service Desk. (Thurgood Marshall Library)
- You accept full responsibility for any loss or damage to the equipment caused by your negligence or improper use, including using the equipment for a purpose other than intended, allowing it out of your control and custody, and failing to protect it from damage.
- In the event of loss due to theft, you must report the missing items to the DoIT Service Desk and the Police as soon as possible. A Police Incident number is required.
- Do not save any data to the laptop’s hard drive unless instructed by the instructor for instruction purposes. Save your work to your BSU OneDrive or a network share.
- If there is an issue with the equipment during your loan period, please contact the DoIT Service Desk.
- Do not store the laptop in your car.
- All equipment remains the property of Bowie State University.
