Bowie State University employees may request a loaner laptop from the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) for business purposes only. Employees must meet the eligibility requirements to receive a laptop. Laptops may be borrowed for up to three months; the department will be charged for the laptop if the device is not returned on the due date. Only one device can be checked out at any given time.
Eligibility:
- You must be a current employee of Bowie State University.
- Your existing device is not working.
- Your existing device is being repaired.
- You need a device while traveling or for an event.
- You need to work remotely and don’t already have a device to take home.
- You are a new employee, and your department-purchased device has not yet arrived.
Availability:
- Laptops can be requested through the IT Service Desk on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Laptops should be reserved at least three business days in advance to ensure availability.
Approval:
- Your area Vice President must provide approval.
Terms and Conditions for Laptop Loan Service
- You must agree to use the laptop in accordance with the DoIT Acceptable Use Policy.
- You must agree to use DUO Multifactor Authentication with the device.
- You must connect the loaner laptop to the BSU network every thirty (30) days, or you risk having the device recalled.
- All equipment must be returned on the due date specified on your laptop loan agreement form, or your department will be charged for the device.
- You cannot transfer the equipment to another person for use during your loan period.
- You must personally return all equipment to the DoIT Service Desk. (Thurgood Marshall Library)
- You accept full responsibility for any loss or damage to the equipment caused by your negligence or improper use, including using the equipment for a purpose other than intended, allowing it out of your control and custody, and failing to protect it from damage.
- In the event of loss due to theft, you must report the missing items to the DoIT Service Desk and the Police as soon as possible. A Police Incident number is required.
- Do not save any data to the laptop’s hard drive. Save your work to your BSU OneDrive or a network share.
- If there is an issue with the equipment during your loan period, please contact the DoIT Service Desk.
- Do not store the laptop in your car.
- All equipment remains the property of Bowie State University.
